As a CAST (College and Alumni Support Team) member, this person is responsible for curriculum development and teaching of Junior Seminar.  Junior Seminar focuses on introducing and familiarizing juniors to the postsecondary process and required mindsets (Q1), preparing for the ACT (Q2 and majority of Q3), to focusing strategically on college and post-secondary readiness in late Spring.  Junior Seminar acts as a precursor to Senior Seminar and the two are aligned and co-planned by CAST members. The Junior Seminar teacher partners with our SGE (Summer Growth Experiences) Director to provide support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

College and Alumni Support

CAST Member

  1. Work with CAST (College and Alumni Support Team) to ensure that all strands of CAST (SGEs, Junior Seminar, Senior Seminar, Alumni Support) are aligned with schools' mission and the department's vision and goals.
  2. Participate in monthly CAST department meetings

Junior Seminar Teacher

  1. Plan and execute daily Junior Seminar (College-going identity/mindset development and ACT Prep) for juniors
  2. Oversee logistics of juniors and seniors signing up for off-campus ACTs (registration support, fee waivers, calculators, creation of photo identification)
  3. Work with counselors to plan and execute junior year college-based field trips (case studies and college fair)
  4. Manage the coordination, implementation and data tracking for three MOCK ACTs for 10th & 11th grade

Support for Director of SGEs

  1. Coordinate SGE fly-ins for rising seniors 

 

Mock ACT’s

  1. Manage the creation and coding of keys in MasteryConnect for mock ACT’s
  2. Organizing and communicating calendar of events
  3. Preselection process including verifying the accuracy of class rosters
  4. Reviewing mock ACT results
  5. Uploading results to mock ACT tracker
  6. Planning the logistics of testing for 10th and 11th grade (making a schedule, prepping testing bins, prepping proctors and test admin scripts) 
  7. Communicating all logistics to the high staff and owning the day-of testing procedures 
  8. Transferring data into a spreadsheet that shows each HS students’ scores for each Mock ACT taken
  9. Presenting data to staff during quarterly Data Day meetings
